Fires Destroy Homes Around Hospital in Louisville, Colorado

Wind-driven fires forced the evacuation of Avista Adventist Hospital in Louisville, Colorado, on December 30, as flames devoured nearby homes and sent thousands of Boulder County residents fleeing.

On Friday, officials said that the Marshall Fire, which heavily damaged areas in Superior and Louisville, destroyed at least 500 homes and possible as many as 1,000.

The Boulder Office of Emergency Management instructed residents not to return to evacuation zones a day after fires broke out.
