Fires Spark in Essex as England Bakes in Extreme Heat

Smoke from several fires across Essex, England, clouded the skies above Rainham, a suburb of East London, on July 19, video shows.

Essex Fire reported several field and mechanical fires in Thorpe, Grays, Boreham, Great Burstead, Manuden, Great Sampford, Upminster, Clacton, and Colchester.

Essex Fire said they received 110 calls “between 10 am and midday” on Tuesday as the UK experienced temperatures over 40 degrees Celsius (around 104 Fahrenheit) – the hottest ever recorded in the country.
