A major travel firm is advertising for the world's most fun job - as a water slide tester.

First Choice is looking to fill the £20,000-a-year vacancy with one lucky applicant who will travel the globe for six months visiting the world's best water parks.

The ultimate summer job role will involve travelling to the firm’s 20 Splash World resorts in exotic locations such as Majorca, Turkey and Egypt where they will riding and rate the slides.

The tour operator started advertising the post after current employee Tommy Lynch, 33, hung up his trunks to move to a new job last month.

Potential candidates must be fun-loving, passionate and enthusiastic as well as "mad about waterparks."

Additional job description information also states applicants must be "willing to travel", "comfortable in swimwear" and "happy to get wet at work."

Luke Gaskins, First Choice Head of Holiday Innovation, said: "This is an amazing job for one lucky person who'll get to escape the 9-5 and instead spend their days rating slides and pools in the sun this summer."

At the end of the six-month contract the employee will receive a seven night holiday for two staying at one of the company's all-inclusive resorts.

Previous slide tester Tommy, from Liverpool, travelled over 108,000 miles in his four years in the role.

He said: "It's the best job in the world.

"It can be a bit tough when it's chilly and you have to strip off, but otherwise it's great.

"There is a serious side to my job, which carries a lot of responsibility, but getting to check out the flumes is by far the best bit.

"Pools and slides are an important part of a family holiday. It's vital to get everything right."

Aspiring slide testers can apply at www.firstchoice.co.uk/slide tester before February 28.
