First-ever Stirling Pride fills city with colour as organisers hail response
Stirling was awash with colour over the weekend as the city hosted it’s first-ever Pride event.
The programme of more than 50 events running across last week celebrating the local LGBTQ+ community culminated in the showpiece main event on Saturday.
Attendees of all ages threw themselves into the day, with local businesses and restaurants offering promotions across the day, while a range of stall holders were in place offering a range of advice and services.

The event on King Street brought together a line-up of 19 performers, with DJ and producer Rebecca Vasmant and Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK star Kate Butch headlining on stage.
Acts including Eyve, Megan Black, Emma Lynne Harley and Beat That also delighted crowds on the stage, while acts such as Joe Goodall and Stirling Youth Folk Club performed at the Fubar Stage inside Fubar nightclub on Maxwell Place.
Olympic silver medal winning curler, Bruce Mouat, also helped to get proceedings kicked off as Stirling Pride’s guest of honour.
After a fun-packed day of events which attracted a strong turnout across the afternoon, there are hopes from the organisers that this will just be the start for Pride in the city.
One of the organisers, Scott McMurray, told the Observer: “The whole day went really well and we’re so chuffed with how it turned out.
“It felt like a real festival vibe in the city all day which was nice and it was quite spread out as the day went on, every space we used seemed to be busy when I popped in and the celebrations moved out into bars and cafes not on King Street itself.
“We didn’t know how it would go as a new event in the calendar and Stirling doesn’t have a lot of big events in the city centre like that, but the response we received really stands us in good stead for future years.”
