A woman from Scotland who was killed after being attacked by a dog has been pictured for the first time.

Michelle McLeod, 41, died at a flat in Foresterhill Road on December 7. She was pronounced dead at the address at 11.15pm after emergency services were called to the incident.

Following the tragic loss of Michelle, her family has released a statement paying tribute to her. They added that they wish for their privacy to be respected, the Daily Record reports.

The statement said: “We are devastated by the loss of Michelle. She was a much-loved mother, daughter and friend to many and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

“We would like to ask that our privacy is respected and allow us to grieve at this very difficult time."

In a statement, Police Scotland said that the dog was believed to be an American Bulldog. They confirmed that it has since been put down following the attack.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with any concerns can speak to these officers."
