First look at new 'cabaret room' and bar at renowned golfing hotel near Coventry
A hotel renowned for golfing is set to have a new 'entertainment' extension. The Forest Of Arden Hotel And Country Club in Maxstoke Lane, Meriden has been given the go-ahead for a new cabaret building.
It will provide a dedicated entertainment venue and 'secure the future' of the site, according to a planning application. It will be in a two-storey, timber clad building.
The ground floor venue will have capacity for all guests and have provision for a further 100 visitors/golfers in a mixed-use facility at the lower ground floor with associated bar and kitchen. The building will also boast a lounge bar, toilets, and facility back of house service spaces associated with the cabaret room.

Inside the cabaret room there will be a stage and seating. It is set to be built on top of the existing overflow car park and will be connected to the hotel's bedroom block via a single-storey link structure.
"The building will be situated on the existing overflow car park to the north-west of the hotel, using the natural gradient of the site to create a two-storey building that is subservient to the existing building," the planning proposal explained. "It will be linked to circulation space within the current bedroom block at ground floor, with access to the mixed-use space through the proposed building or via an external glazed entrance. To offset the size of the development, the marquee is to be removed to reduce the overall increase in floor area.
"Golf will remain a key feature of the hotel, where the mixed-use space will provide golfing groups with a space together either before or after a game including society dinners."
It adds: "Limiting the impact of the proposed cabaret on the existing frontage of the hotel, internal spaces can be reorganised to maximise external views for leisure and dining spaces. This will also improve access to existing terrace spaces, allowing for al fresco dining."
As part of the planning process, public consultation was held earlier this year. Then last month North Warwickshire Borough Council gave the plans the go-ahead.
