The fresh take on the iconic 1992 animated classic teases a first look at the fictional city of Agrabah, before delving into the Cave of Wonders where Aladdin is seen discovering the magic lamp.
“Only one may enter here…one whose worth lies far within…the diamond in the rough”, declares the voice of the stone tiger guarding the cave.
The closing scenes of the trailer gives viewers a glimpse at Canadian-Egyptian actor Mena Massoud as he gazes longingly at the lamp.
Starring alongside Massoud is Suicide Squad actor Will Smith as the Genie, Power Rangers actress Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine and The Mummy actor Marwan Kenzari as Jafar.
The film is set to be directed by Sherlock Holmes director Guy Ritchie and is expected to follow the animated film closely.
Ahead of the trailer release, Smith teased his upcoming role.
Taking to social media to share the purple film poster, he wrote: “Lemme out, can’t wait for y’all to see me BLUE.”
Excited fans shared their anticipation on Twitter ahead of the film’s release.
