First look: Emma Watson's opening song from Beauty and the Beast

We got our first introduction to Emma Watson’s singing voice in a snippet from the live-action ‘Beauty and the Beast’ movie broadcast during the Golden Globes coverage back in January.

But now Disney has revealed an extended clip, as the ‘Harry Potter’ star gets to grips with the opening number ‘Belle’.

And those pipes do indeed appear to be rather enviable.

Watson’s heroine proceeds through her French village home, as the locals remark upon her general oddness – well, she is singing to herself, but then so is everyone else.

And it is indeed her own voice, in case you were wondering if filmmaking trickery is involved.

“I sing, so that’s really unexpected,” she told Total Film. “I’ve never had to do that for a film role before, and I think people will be interested to see me do something very different like that. It gives me a different challenge, really.”

The clip has been released as Watson and the cast embark on their worldwide press tour, which began in Paris yesterday.

She was joined by her co-stars Dan Stevens (the beast himself), Luke Evans (Gaston), Josh Gad (Le Fou), director Bill Condon and revered Disney composer Alan Menken.

It’s out across the UK on March 17.
