First look inside McDonald's at Meteor Centre after major revamp
New photos have given customers a first look inside a McDonald's restaurant at a Derby retail park, which has reopened following a major revamp. The branch at the Meteor Centre in Breadsall has a new layout following a "convenience of the future” revamp.
The retail park fast food restaurant reopened its doors on Tuesday, September 17, just over a month after it originally closed for refurbishment on August 16.
The Frank Whittle Road refurbishment promises to deliver “a better customer experience for all”. It now has a more "contemporary" dining area, as well as building a separate area for couriers to await their deliveries, giving it a fresh look and feel.

Mark Clapham, who owns and operates 11 McDonald’s restaurants including the Breadsall branch, said: “I’m proud to reinvest in our Breadsall restaurant - especially as McDonald’s celebrates its 50th anniversary in the UK this year! I’m confident the changes will not only benefit our customers but also our staff as they will help make their jobs a little easier.”
Some of the key features to note about the refurbishment include a new kitchen design, a dedicated courier waiting area allowing for a more relaxed dining experience and a front counter redesign that aims to reduce congestion in the busy restaurant.
Additionally behind the scenes, the staff have been able to enjoy their new crew room, aiming to create a more relaxing and comfortable space for their break times.
Mr Clapham added: “It’s exciting to see the fresh new look and feel of our Derby restaurant and I’m confident the changes will not only benefit our customers but also our staff as they will help make their jobs a little easier.”
The revamp has also included more stations that customers can use to order their food, allowing for more efficient and seamless service. The “convenience of the future” project also boasts that they have integrated a better system for the McDonald's app orders.
