Yahoo News First look pictures show young Prince William in The Crown season 4
In three series Netflix's The Crown has so far portrayed the lives of Queen Elizabeth II, her husband Prince Philip and their children including Prince Charles and Princess Anne. New behind-the-scenes pictures from season four filming are giving us our first glimpse at the show's depiction of a young Prince William.
Emma Corrin, who will make her debut as the late Princess Diana in series four, has been pictured on-set with the child actor playing her eldest son William.
The actors can be seen filming a Buckingham Palace Easter Egg hunt in 1984, with Emma wearing a prosthetic bump to signify Diana's pregnancy with Prince Harry. The pictures show Emma holding the child star in her arms and chasing after him affectionately.
There's clearly a striking resemblance between the actors and the royals they're playing thanks to '80s-style costumes and hair.
The sneak preview images come after Netflix revealed Imelda Staunton will take over from Olivia Colman as the Queen in the fifth series of The Crown.
The streaming service said it will be the final season, after it was previously expected to run for six instalments.
“At the outset I had imagined The Crown running for six seasons but now that we have begun work on the stories for season five it has become clear to me that this is the perfect time and place to stop. I’m grateful to Netflix and Sony for supporting me in this decision," showrunner Peter Morgan explained.
It's likely The Crown series five will air in late 2021, given season four is set to hit Netflix in November this year. While we wait for more news, here's everything you need to know about the upcoming set of episodes.
