Channel 4 has given us our first look at Richard Ayoade as the new host of The Crystal Maze.

It was revealed earlier this year that The IT Crowd star would be hosting a FULL series of the classic game show, taking over from Stephen Merchant who presented the one-off episode for Stand Up To Cancer last year.

And we think Ayoade looks pretty damn good.

The new series will be filmed at a purpose-built maze in Bristol that's being created by the original Crystal Maze designer James Dillon and spans over 30,000 square feet.

So the contestants better be ready for a whole lot of running between rooms.

Teams of five contestants will travel through the classic Aztec, Medieval, Future and Industrial zones (sorry, Ocean fans), taking on the usual physical, skill, mental and mystery challenges.

And then, of course, it's time to START THE FANS PLEASE in the Crystal Dome, which looks as glittering as ever.

Ayoade follows in the footsteps of the iconic Richard O'Brien, Ed Tudor-Pole and Merchant in hosting The Crystal Maze.

The new 20 hour-long episodes were commissioned after the success of the one-off celebrity revival last year, which was filmed at The Crystal Maze live experience attraction in London.

Ayoade will also be welcoming some celebrities into the maze for some charity specials during the new series.

The Crystal Maze returns to Channel 4 later this year.
