This is the first picture of a "loving husband, father and grandfather" who died after a fire broke out in his Handsworth home. Javed Iqbal, 57, sustained 'life-changing" injuries when flames engulfed the property on at the corner of Broughton Road and Hamstead Road in the early hours of May 25.

He battled his injuries for a week before dying on June 1 leaving his wife, five children and grandchildren in shock. A GoFundMe has been set up in Mr Iqbal's name to raise £2,000 to "build water pumps/wells in poor parts of the world".

The organiser, who wished to remain anonymous, said Mr Iqbal came from Halifax and built a happy life in Birmingham. He said: "He was a family man.
