The first image has been released of Clare O’Neill and her daughter Eliza, who have been reunited in hospital following their terrifying carjacking ordeal.

Clare had arrived home in Marie Drive, in the Acocks Green area of Birmingham, just after 4pm yesterday when two men demanded the keys to her Audi A3.

Despite the distraught mum’s frantic efforts to get her daughter out of the vehicle, the thieves drove off with four-week-old Eliza still inside.

Happily, Eliza was found by an ambulance crew at a health centre in Small Heath 45 minutes later, still in her car seat.

Clare is recovering at Heartlands Hospital from the leg injuries she sustained during the theft, and West Midlands Police are continuing their search for the two men.
