First picture released of Polish woman killed in quadruple hit and run in south London

The woman who died in a multiple hit-and-run last week has been identified as a 29-year-old Polish national.

Justyna Kalandyk was hit by by two lorries and two cars as she used a pedestrian crossing in south London while the traffic lights were green.

The drivers of all four vehicles did not stop.

Ms Kalandyk was treated by paramedics at the scene in Tulse Hill, but died of multiple injuries after the incident on Monday December 11.

The driver of the second car to hit her, a 52-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

The 49-year-old driver of the first lorry has also been interviewed under caution.

The driver of the second lorry and the driver of the first car to hit Ms Kalandyk have both spoken to police, but neither has been arrested.

Detective Sergeant Alistair Middleton, who is investigating the crash, said: ‘Even though we have traced all the vehicles that we believe were involved, I continue to appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision and the moments afterwards to contact us immediately.

An inquest into Ms Kalandyk’s death will begin on Wednesday at Southwark Coroner’s Court.

Police still want to hear from anyone who was travelling from the South Circular junction of Norwood Road towards the junction of Brixton Hill between 6.30am and 7am on that day.
