First reactions to Channel 4 spy drama Traitors are mixed
It's unique to have a series that so thoroughly divides its audience in its premiere episode, but that's exactly what with happened with Channel 4's new spy drama Traitors on Sunday night (February 17).
The six-part series, which went up against the premiere of the BBC's The Missing spin-off Baptiste in the ratings this weekend, is set in 1940s London and explores the course of events following the Labour Party's Clement Attlee shock landslide victory over Winston Churchill.
Boasting an impressive cast of Keeley Hawes (Bodyguard), Feef Symonds (Clique) and Luke Treadaway (Ordeal By Innocence), expectations for the series were certainly high.
But, what did viewers think?

Well, it's hard to gauge a definitive reaction from commentators online.
Indeed, reviews from different publications have been equally mixed, with Den of Geek dubbing it a "satisfying, grown up spy thriller", while the Telegraph called it "wobbly, claustrophobic and not that thrilling".
Social media users have also voiced varying opinions, with some committing themselves to a full post-premiere binge (the entire boxset was made available on All 4 after episode one aired) and others turning off at the first ad break.
Here's what those people who really liked it had to say:

Disappointed with #Traitors episode 1, thought it was slow, dull and lacking any characters I felt intrigued about or engaged to. Not sure I’ll stick with it
- Chris Mac (@chrismackop) February 17, 2019
I gave up on #Traitors at the first advert break. Not even sorry. Pile of shite.
