We finally have our first trailer for the Downton Abbey movie.

The project – scripted by original creator Julian Fellowes – welcomes back all of your favourite characters to the big screen, including: Michelle Dockery's Lady Mary, Robert Crawley, Anna Bates and perhaps surprisingly, Maggie Smith's Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham.

Freshly uploaded to Twitter, the 60-second trailer "cordially invites" you to cinemas next September. As you'd expect, there's visual grandeur aplenty and even the show's iconic sweeping soundtrack.

Oh it's good to be back.

Fans have shared their excitement following the trailer's release, responding on Twitter: "Best Christmas present yet!", "I’ll wear my best circa 1920s frock to the viewing. #DowntonAbbeyFilm" and "I’M GONNA FREAKING CRRRYYYYYYY" to mention a few.

Meanwhile, Tom Branson actor Allen Leech has previously said how the movie's storyline will be set months after the final TV episode.

"It picks up not too long after the series ended. So, time-wise, I think we're eight or nine months after.

"The only problem is all the actors are now three years older – it was a pretty heavy eight months!" he joked.

Considering the production only wrapped earlier this month, this is a pretty fast turnaround for a trailer. Nice work.

The Downton Abbey movie will be released September 13, 2019 in the UK, and September 20, 2019 in the US.
