Fitness trainer reveals one fruit that will stop you 'feeling sluggish' at gym
A fitness trainer has revealed the one food you should be eating before you head to the gym. Internet personality, Ryan Fischer, has over 480,000 followers on his social media accounts.
He reveals tips and tricks to his community of athletes daily on how they can improve their time spent at the gym. He recently said that one fruit can make you stronger ahead of your workout.
The TikToker said: “Did you know that having a banana pre-workout can actually make you stronger? To perform well in the gym, we need carbohydrates. If you don’t have these in your diet you’re going to end up being sluggish in the gym.

“So if you have higher carbohydrate intake going into the gym, you’re going to be stronger and because you’re stronger, you’re going to be able to lift heavier weights. When you lift heavier weights, you increase something called mechanical tension, and you actually put on muscle.
“If you want to start increasing your performance in the gym, start eating about 25 to 50 grams of carbohydrates per workout.
"The reason I choose bananas is because I’m trying to maintain or even cut body fat. So choosing a banana is actually going to make me eat a little bit less.”
The banana should be eaten 30 to 60 minutes before your workout to maximise your performance. This allows time for the fruit to be digested and therefore get the most benefit from it. The fitness fanatic said a Rice Krispies breakfast bar or a fruit-based drink could work as alternatives. However, he often finds them don’t fill him up.
He added: “So, something that’s like a fruit, is going to be a little bit more fibrous with a lot less calories and give you the same result.”
