Every dog deserves a loving home.

But every year, hundreds of pooches find themselves in rescue centres through no fault of their own. Some come from difficult backgrounds, while others are born in the centre. Each has lots of love to give.

The RSPCA is facing a rehoming crisis dogs coming into rescue faster than they can be set up with families. From precious Blue, a springer spaniel with special needs, to bouncy Bruce, a terrier with bags of affection, there are dogs to suit all lifestyles.

Meet gorgeous boy Rocco!

Rocco is a two and a half year old French bulldog, who absolutely loves a fuss. When he's not playing with his toys, and making human friends in the centre's social spaces, Rocco loves to be out on a walk.

Rocco does suffer from BOAS, which is characteristic for his breed, and he will be assessed with regards to having surgery for this in the near future.

Rocco walks lovely on lead, but he can become excited when he sees another dog, but since being at the centre we have been working on calm introductions and focus work, this will need continuing in his future home.

Rocco is looking for an active owner, where he can go out on lots of walks and adventures. He may be able to live with another dog dependant on successful meets, but no cats.

Blaze

Beautiful Blaze is looking for a new family he can call his own.

Blaze is a smart boy who loves enrichment and using his brain where he can, he loves being able to keep his active mind busy. As well as his active mind, Blaze loves being outside and being active, he loves going on long walks and playing in the paddock.

Blaze loves his toys, especially soft toys. He is an energetic boy who is looking for an active home.

Blaze has shown positive signs with other centre dogs since being here, so could possibly live with another dog. This would be arranged with potential adopters and would require a supervised viewing on site.

Due to his size and excitable nature we feel like he would do better in an adult only home who can give him all the attention he needs. Blaze has been improving every day so he would love someone who will carry on his training in a home and can give him the love he deserves.

Blue

Blue is a very special boy who has some very specific needs as he has a lesion on his brain.

He has a constant tremor and can struggle with his walking. This means that he needs a home who will invest time into enrichment, training and brain games with him, rather than going on long walks/hikes.

He also has some specific behavioural needs due to a neglectful past which has made him quite fearful. He's had a very very difficult start to life which means he can be very nervous around strangers and new things, therefore a quiet home would be best with children of 16+.

His future home will need a good interest in training as Blue is very high energy and still needs to learn some of the basics. He can be strong on lead when over excited, however, once calm he walks perfectly, continued training will be needed with this.

His ideal family will have some experience with training, be patient with him and be understanding of his needs.

Moose

Moose is a two-year-old friendly Staffodshire bull terrier cross

Moose’s past is a bit of a mystery as he was abandoned by his previous owner. When he arrived at the centre, he was suffering with a very severe ear infection which required a lot of treatment and medication; which unsurprisingly means he isn’t too keen on his ears being handled.

But despite this, Moose has only love and trust to give to everyone he meets. This little boy is very food orientated. He will happily work for just biscuits as well as any sort of treat. Because of his love of food, Moose learns new tricks and commands quite fast. He knows a lot of his basic commands and each day is learning more and more.

Moose has met many staff and volunteers at our centre and has loved every interaction with each individual person; he can’t get enough of being the centre of attention.

He is looking for an active family who are going to keep him mentally and physically stimulated as he is just so clever. Moose is looking for a home as the only pet and can live with children aged 16+

Bruce is a sweet and energetic six year old Terrier crossbreed who is now looking for his forever family.

Bruce is a friendly boy who enjoys company, interaction and is full of personality. He loves running and playing with his toys, especially balls. He also enjoys his walks and walks lovely on the lead.

He knows basic commands and is receptive to further positive reward based training. He will require regular grooming, although this will need to be done slowly and positively, without any pressure on him as he can be a little unsure and worried in certain situations. He will also need regular exercise and mental stimulation.

Bruce needs a a patient home with owners who are used to the terrier breed and understands their behaviour and traits. He needs an adult only home with no other animals.
