Five arrested in Wolverhampton as police respond to 'fears over weapons'
Five people were arrested during a clampdown on weapons in Wolverhampton. The arrests were carried out in the city centre and West Park in the Whitmore Reans area of the city.
Among those arrested included a man wanted following an aggravated burglary while another man was detained after fleeing from officers in the park. West Midlands Police said patrols were out in the city on Tuesday (November 12) where there's been "concern about the possession of weapons".
Officers detained the 30-year-old man in West Park following a short foot chase where cannabis and an offensive weapon was recovered. He was detained on suspicion of possessing cannabis with intent to supply and possessing an offensive weapon.

The man who was wanted in connection with the aggravated burglary was also wanted on suspicion of a number of other burglaries and theft from vehicles. He remained in custody yesterday (November 13) as investigations continued.
Meanwhile, a 32-year-old wanted on suspicion of burglary and failing to appear at court was also detained. He was set to appear before Walsall Magistrates Court yesterday (November 13) charged with burglary and failing to appear.
A 39-year-old was arrested on suspicion of harassment while a 43-year-old was arrested on suspicion of domestic assault. They both remained in custody yesterday.
