Five Ayrshire chippies among best in Scotland
Ayrshire fish and chip shops were among the winners at the Scottish Fish & Chip Awards 2024.
In a glitzy awards ceremony in Glasgow on Monday, November 11, five of Ayrshire’s finest chippies picked up prizes.
The Principal Cafe in Galston, Barassie Chippy in Troon, Eglinton Diner in Saltcoats, Jonna’s Chippy Van in Kilmarnock and Reel Plaice in Ayr were all commended for their culinary excellence.

Barassie Chippy was awarded best fish supper in Ayrshire while The Principal Cafe picked up both the best newcomer award and the award for best chip shop in Ayrshire.
Joanna’s Chippy Van was highly recommended in the best mobile fish and chips category as well as the best fish supper in Ayrshire category.
Reel Plaice was highly commended for their customer service while both The Principal Cafe and Eglinton Diner were also Highly recommended in the best fish supper in Ayrshire category.
Barassie Chippy was also highly recommended in the best chip shop in Ayrshire category alongside Eglinton Diner.
The Scottish Fish & Chip Awards are organised by Paramount Creative. Paramount’s CEO, Warren Paul, said, “Each year we celebrate the very best in what has always been the classic takeaway – fish and chips.
