A new five day long amber health alert has been issued for Coventry and Warwickshire. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) Weather-Health Alert system has updated its map this morning.

It includes a new five day long amber warning for health. It came into force at 10am this morning (Monday, November 18) and is set to last until 6pm on Saturday (November 23).

The warning says that the forecast cold weather is likely to cause 'significant impacts' across health and social care services. This, it says, could see a rise in deaths of those aged over 65 with heath conditions.

The freezing cold weather is also set to see an increase in demand for health services as well as challenges keeping indoor temperatures at the recommended leading 18°C to more risk to vulnerable people.

Temperatures are set to plummet this week, according to the Met Office. This could bring some snow to parts of the Midlands later this evening and into tomorrow (November 19). While mainly in the north of the Midlands, the latest forecast says there could be more 'flurries' later this week.
