Five east Hull roads are set for works to have their footpaths resurfaced.

Amsterdam Road, Downing Grove, Reford Grove, Romford Grove and Saltford Avenue are all set for resurfacing after Hull City Council awarded the contract for the works. A council decision record stated the resurfacing and reconstruction works were essential.

Council Transport Portfolio Holder Cllr Mark Ieronimo said residents had told the authority they wanted better quality footpaths in their neighbourhoods. A start date and timescale for the works is yet to be announced along with arrangements for pedestrians and affected residents.

The contract for the works, which are worth around £170,400, has been awarded to PBS Construction. The roads are in the east Hull wards of Southcoates, Marfleet and Holderness.

They are all residential street off of main roads. It comes after around three weeks of works took place on a major west Hull road in April.

The footpath on Princes Avenue between Belvoir Street and Marlborough Avenue was resurfaced over the course of two phases of works. Speaking about the east Hull works, Transport Portfolio Holder Cllr Ieronimo said: "Across the city, our residents have told us they want better quality pavements in their local neighbourhoods. With that in mind, I'm happy to support this decision."
