Five suspects named after car meet at Trafford Centre

Five men are set to appear in court after being charged with a number of driving offences following a car meet. Police confirmed they had been investigating the incident since it took place at the Trafford Centre on May 30, 2023.

Greater Manchester Police has secured charges against five people who will face court next month. Hanaan Akbar, 22, of St Andrews Road, Cheadle, has been charged with causing a public nuisance, dangerous driving, perverting the course of justice and making or supplying articles for the use in fraud, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Shabbir Ahmed, 22, of Alders Road, Sharston, Manchester has been charged with six counts of perverting the course of justice. Muhammad Butt, 28, of Whittle Street, Worsley, has been charged with dangerous driving and perverting the course of justice.

Adam Shepherd, 29, of Windsor Avenue, Clitheroe, and Lewis Bailey, 22, of Thompson Avenue, Warrington, have also been charged with dangerous driving. All five men have been bailed ahead of appearances at Manchester Magistrates' Court next month.

Ahmed, Bailey, Butt and Shepherd will all appear before magistrates on Tuesday, February 18. Akbar will appear in court on Thursday, February 20.
