Flames Rip Through Roof of Iconic London Music Venue

Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were deployed to fight a fire engulfing the iconic Koko music venue in Camden, London, on the night of January 6, the London Fire Brigade said.

The venue, opened in 1900 and serving as a theater for decades, was known as the Camden Palace from 1982 to 2004. It had been temporarily closed for a “major state-of-the-art transformation” and was scheduled to reopen in spring 2020 “as a world-class music and hospitality destination,” according to Koko’s website.

London Fire Brigade said 30 percent of the roof was alight on Monday night as firefighters worked to save the building.
