Flash Flooding Hits Ruidoso RV Park Amid Deadly Wildfires

An RV park in Ruidoso, New Mexico, was inundated with floodwater after a severe storm brought heavy rain to the region as two wildfires, dubbed the South Fork and Salt fires, continued to burn in the area.

Ruidoso resident Jesus Figueroa captured this video showing a group of recreational vehicles sitting in several inches of muddy, flowing floodwater on Wednesday, June 19.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), first responders carried out “swift water rescues” at the RV park. The NWS forecast additional precipitation into Saturday, and warned of possible heavy rain and flash flooding.
