Flash Flooding Inundates Suburban Street in Hawaii

Large swathes of Hawaii’s O’ahu island was inundated with flood waters on Tuesday, March 9, after heavy rainfall swept through the region.

Video uploaded by Instagram user Sara Ackerman shows floodwaters submerging homes and vehicles as locals wade through the streets. Ackerman said in the caption attached to her post, “The rain just kept coming and coming and pretty soon everything was submerged.”

The O’ahu Department of Emergency Management extended the flash flood warning for Oahu into Tuesday evening as public road closures and landslides were expected.
