Flash Flooding Turns Road Into River as Storms Hit Sicily

A road was turned to a river in Sicily, as storms brought heavy rain to the Italian island on Monday, November 8.

Footage livestreamed by Mosè Miceli shows the fast-flowing water surging across the Palermo-Agrigento road, near Lercara Friddi.

3BMeteo said at least 70 mm fell in parts of the island on Monday.

Several roads were closed and trains delayed due to flash flooding, according to local media reports.

Conditions prompted Sicily’s Regional Department of Civil Protection to issue an orange weather alert for most of the island the following day as rain continued. Credit: Mosè Miceli via Storyful
