Sparks will be flying in Central City on The Flash this spring - although not the romantic kind.

The scarlet speedster (Grant Gustin) will be battling a mysterious enemy whose explosive powers are such a grave threat to Central City that he resorts to calling in some back-up.

Luckily, the STAR Labs team are ready and waiting for the assist so it's not long before Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale) and Vibe (Carlos Valdes) are on the scene to help him save the day - as you can see in the set photos above and below.

Surprisingly missing from this epic battle is Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), even though her Killer Frost powers would be particularly helpful in taking down such a fiery foe.

Throughout The Flash's most recent season, Caitlin has struggled to contain her meta-human abilities since she tends to lose her grip on sanity more and more each time she uses them.

Not only is this a major battle ahead for The Flash, but he'll also be having a two-part multiverse adventure with his old friend Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) coming up this spring.

The two heroes will cross dimensions when the devious Music Meister (Darren Criss) uses his hypnotic songs to bend all of reality to his will.

This two-night musical crossover will actually be a reunion for Grant Gustin, Melissa Benoist and Darren Criss - who all previously starred on Glee.

Supergirl and The Flash will air these two episodes in the US on Monday, March 20 and Tuesday, March 21 on The CW. Sky1 airs the show in the UK.
