Yahoo News The Flash movie has found new directors after 18 months
He may have been the breakout star of Justice League, but The Flash's path towards a solo movie has been a difficult one.
Now, after the departure of two directors, Warner Bros has hired Spider-Man: Homecoming writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein to helm the film, according to Variety.
The pair directed Vacation, as well as the upcoming comedy Game Night, which stars Rachel McAdams, Jason Bateman, Kyle Chandler, Jesse Plemons and Jeffrey Wright.
Ezra Miller will star in the DC movie as Barry Allen/The Flash.
The film is expected to be based around the Flashpoint comic (that may or may not give the film its final title), which sees The Flash create an awful alternate world after he goes back in time in an attempt to save his mother's life. Fans of the TV show will be extremely familiar with the concept by now.
The comic's alternate history included Thomas and Martha Wayne becoming Batman and The Joker respectively after their son Bruce was murdered. Wonder Woman and Aquaman are tyrannical leaders at war with each other, and Superman has been imprisoned and experimented on by the government for years. It's a jolly place, as you can no doubt tell.
Rumour has it that Ben Affleck was also approached to direct the movie, and Robert Zemeckis's name has also been in the mix.
With Daley and Goldstein's comedy backgrounds, DC might be considering a change of direction after the disappointing reception of Justice League and the controversy around Batman and Superman's dark tone.
Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa were both previously attached to the film, which has been without a director since October 2016.
The Flash/Flashpoint does not currently have a release date.
