A man who became a TikTok star after filming himself skateboarding down the street and listening to Fleetwood Mac is using donations from adoring fans to make a down payment on a house.

Nathan Apodaca told US news website Insider that the video's success had prompted a huge wave of donations, which are helping him get more "comfortable" financially.

"I can pay my phone bill on time, and with the donations I was blessed with, that's helping me get a down payment for a house and my lady has a savings that she's been saving for over 20 years, so she's throwing that in too," Mr Apodaca said.

"Hopefully I'll be getting into a house pretty soon."

He continued: "It's just been a little bit better, you know what I mean?

"Just still smiles always, no matter what, but just a little bit more comfortable."

Mr Apodaca revealed earlier this month that he had received $10,000 (£7,800) in donations from fans by the end of September after posting the footage of himself on his skateboard on his @420doggface208 TikTok account just days earlier.

He said at the time he would use the funds to upgrade his currently defunct RV and upgrade his car, meaning he will be able to put the skateboard away for his commute to work in a local potato factory.

The video, which features Fleetwood Mac's famous track 'Dreams' and caused the band to briefly trend on Twitter, has attracted more than 48 million views to date.

Fleetwood Mac co-founder Mick Fleetwood recently delighted legions of fans online by recreating the video posted by Mr Apodaca and sharing it via his newly created TikTok account.

The 73-year-old British drummer can be seen lip-syncing to bandmate Stevie Nicks' lyrics as he glides along, nodding and smiling, in the 20-second clip.
