I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! campmate Fleur East has responded to Simon Cowell's savaging of her.

Back when she was in the jungle last year, Cowell was clearly unimpressed, as he then decided to (sort of) reference Fleur's participation during an episode of The X Factor.

Talking to his singer Scarlett Lee, Cowell said: "I don't want you in the jungle in two years drinking worm juice. I want you either on Broadway, West End, [or] selling records." Naturally, this was perceived as a sly dig at Fleur.

Now, speaking backstage at tonight's (January 22) National Television Awards – where I'm a Celeb won the Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award – Fleur responded: "I think Simon's a smart man. I think it was a bit of a joke, to be honest.

"And while I was in the jungle, 'Sax' went back into the Top 40, so... who's laughing, really?"

Her fellow campmate Nick Knowles then jumped in: "Also, why do a programme that's got 7 million viewers when you can do one that gets 13 million?

"Everybody got on really well, and it got massive viewing figures, which I think is a bit of a message. Actually, people getting on can be good telly as well. People don't have to fall out to make good telly."

"I think Simon Cowell needs to go in there," Fleur went on to suggest. "He needs to feel the wrath of the insects... see if he survives!"

Something tells us that'll never happen, but here's hoping!
