Flights Grounded at Austin Airport Due to Power Outage

A power outage brought flights to a halt at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport on Wednesday, September 7.

Footage by Mike Hancock shows passengers waiting outside a gate in the dark in the early hours.

The outage, which lasted more than three hours, was resolved before 8 am, the airport said, adding that passengers could expect continued delays.

According to the Austin-American Statesman, road closures around the airport caused “massive delays and backups” on Highway 71.

The cause of the outage was under investigation. Credit: Mike Hancock via Storyful
