Flood alert in force after heavy rainfall
A flood alert has been issued for the Eastern Yar, alongside weather warnings for strong winds already in force for the Isle of Wight.
The Environment Agency (EA) has said tributaries from Whitwell to Bembridge are also likely to flood.
It follows a night of heavy rain. In the past 24 hours, 10.4mm of rain fell at Knighton.
Flooding is possible on Sandown Road, as river levels rise.
The EA said: "Monitor local water levels and weather conditions.
"Avoid using low lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding.
"Start acting on your flood plan if you have one."
A Met Office weather warning for wind is already in place until midday.
The Isle of Wight Met Service also has a weather warning for gales of up to 70mph until 4pm.
Winds of up to 70mph hit The Needles earlier today, as the County Press reported.
In travel, Red Jets remain off this morning (Friday), as do Hovertravel services.
Tickets will be accepted on Wightlink's Fast Cat service, which is running to time.
