Flood alerts for Cambridgeshire rivers as Met Office amber weather warning issued
A number of flood alerts remain in force for Cambridgeshire rivers - ahead of a 12-hour amber weather warning for rain coming into force for much of the county. The Met Office warning, which covers Cambridge, Peterborough, Ely and other areas of the county is in place between 6pm on Thursday and 6am on Friday.
The latest hour-by-hour weather forecasts predict heavy rain throughout the night in many areas of the county. Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service has urged people to take extra care on the roads.
As of 3pm on Thursday, three flood alerts - which mean flooding is possible and people should be prepared, are in force across Cambridgeshire. A flood warning - which means flooding is expected and people should 'act now' - is also in place for Wyboston Lakes, School Lane in Eaton Socon, Hardwick Road and Springbrook in Eynesbury, The Paddock and Crosshall Road in Eaton Ford and River Terrace, Priory Lane, Chandlers Wharf, Brook Street, Church Street and Browns Square in St Neots.

The flood alerts are in place for the following locations:
River Great Ouse from Wyboston to the south of Brampton, including Duloe Brook, Hen Brook, Fox Brook
River Great Ouse from Brampton to Earith, including Back Brook, Hall Green Brook, Parsons Drove Drain, Swavesey Drain and Wadsbys Folly
Hundred Foot Washes, also known as the Ouse Washes, including the causeways at Earith, Sutton Gault and Welney
The flood warning states: "Further rainfall is forecast throughout today and into the evening Thursday 26 September which may cause river levels to continue rising. Take care on riverside roads and footpaths, and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger."
