Flood Wall Helps Protect Mount Vernon, Washington

Residents of Mount Vernon, Washington, had a flood wall to thank for protecting them against a surging Skagit River on November 16, 2021, as nearby areas were deluged by rising water.

A hastily constructed flood wall helped Mount Vernon avoid major flooding, as the Skagit River crested at a near-record 36.98 feet on Tuesday morning, the Seattle Times reported.
