Flood warning issued in West London after torrential rain shuts two Tube stations
A flood warning has been issued in West London after torrential rain hammered the whole city overnight. The Environment Agency has pinpointed South Ruislip as the most at risk part of London this morning (Monday, September 23), with a map showing the areas around the country where warnings are in place.
When river levels reach their peak this morning locations near Yeading Brook (East) and Roxbourne are set to be most affected. This includes low lying land and roads - particularly around Field End Road, Brookside Close, South Park Way, Great Central Avenue, and Bourne Primary School.
A statement from the Environment Agency reads: "Residents should consider putting your flood plan into action. Remain safe and be aware of your surroundings. You should avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. We are monitoring rainfall and checking rivers for blockages."

The warning in South Ruislip follows two nearby Tube stations - Ruislip Manor and Ruislip - being shut due to flooding.
What to do if you get a flood warning
A flood warning means you need to act: flooding is expected. You should do all the actions for a flood alert, but also:
move vehicles to higher ground if it’s safe to do so
move family and pets to safety
move important items upstairs or to a safe place in your property, starting with cherished items and valuables, then furniture and furnishings
turn off gas, electricity and water supplies if it’s safe to do so; never touch an electrical switch if you’re standing in water
if you have property protection products such as flood barriers, or air brick covers, use them now
avoid walking or cycling through floodwater
keep track of the latest flood risk situation
Multiple flood alerts - which are a grade less severe than flood warnings - are also in place across London.
These include Rivers Beam and Bom in Dagenham, the River Lea between Canning Town and Cheshunt, a variety of small brooks and streams across Barnet, the River Brent in West London and the River Thames between Putney and Teddington.
