Flooded South Florida Braces for More Rain

South Florida residents waded through floodwaters on Thursday morning, June 13, after as much as 18 inches of rain fell over the course of the previous two days, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

The NWS estimated between 6 and 12 inches of rain had fallen since Tuesday, with isolated areas of South Florida receiving as much as 18 inches.

Footage taken by Julio Catano shows conditions in Doral on Thursday morning, as daylight revealed the “shocking scope” of the flooding, the NWS said.

The weather service warned more rain would hit South Florida later Thursday, and said a flood watch would remain in effect until Friday. The NWS forecast as much as 10 more inches of rain could arrive. Credit: Julio Cataño via Storyful
