Floods inundate streets in Pondicherry, India, after heavy rain

Heavy rains lashed the Indian town of Pondicherry - officially known as Puducherry - on Thursday 18 November. Water inundated the town and its suburbs, flooding low-lying areas, drains, and roads. Puducherry experienced 36.2mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours, ending at 8.30am local time on Thursday. Rains continued to batter other parts of the Union Territory.
