Florida Couple Charged With Child Neglect After 14-Month-Old Child Overdoses on Cocaine
The child was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition
A Florida couple were charged with child neglect after a 14-month-old child overdosed on cocaine, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office says.
Police responded Sunday to a medical call for an unresponsive toddler in Bonita Springs, Fla. Diego Tzoy Pu, 33, and Santa Lux Pu De Tzoy, 30, were charged with child neglect and drug possession after police claimed they said the baby ingested “several pills described as oxycodone.”
It is unclear if they've retained attorneys to speak on their behalf.
The sheriff’s office said the pills were tested and found to contain cocaine.

The pills had been in Tzoy Pu’s wallet, which was placed on a table that the child had access to, police allege. The child “was seen screaming and crying with a blue pill in her teeth,” according to the sheriff’s office.
The child was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
“We have to protect those that cannot protect themselves,” Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in a statement. “Thank God the child is going to be okay. We will continue to work with DCF to ensure this child is in a safe environment, free of drugs and neglect.”
