Florida Little Free Library's 'Halloween Story Time' Spooks Children and Parents Alike

Book enthusiasts from Lake Helen, Florida, embraced spooky season early this year, gathering for Halloween Story Time at a Little Free Library in the community on October 12.

The eerie event was hosted by Joy Taylor, who has Little Free Library #68043 in front of her home. Taylor debuted the event last Halloween, and following its success organized another for this year.

Taylor told Storyful that for both years she had volunteers come and read for the audience.

“Last year we read five shorter books geared to a younger audience. But this year I aged it up a bit for them, performing part of a chapter book,” she said.

The Thief of Always by Clive Barker was the horror tale of choice, and photos provided by Taylor captured the volunteers in character, as they scared the daylights out of kids and parents alike.

The event also featured some other festive treats, including apple cider, Halloween-themed crafts, and, of course, candy.
