Yahoo News Florida man buys £100,000 Porsche with fake cheque printed at home
A Florida man bought a £100,000 Porsche with a fake cheque printed from his home computer, police said.
Casey William Kelly, 42, from Wewahithcka, used the nearly $139,203 cheque to buy the Porsche 911 Turbo at a local dealership on July 27.
He was arrested the next day after the Porsche was reported stolen to the Okaloosa Country Sheriff's Office.
During the investigation police discovered Mr Kelly presented another cheque for the amount of $61,521 dollars to a jewellery shop in Miramar Beach where he tried to purchase three Rolex watches.
But the jeweller decided to keep the watches until they could determine if the cheque would cash.
After his arrest on July 29, Mr Kelly admitted to printing out the cashier’s cheques from his home computer, said police.
According to Walton County Sheriff, Michael Adkinson Jr., the picture of Mr Kelley with his new Porsche was posted on social media after he bought it using the fake cheque.
Mr Kelley was transported and booked into the Walton County Jail.
