Flowers Left Outside Tasmanian School After Children Killed in Inflatable Castle Incident

Five children were killed and several were left in a critical condition after an inflatable castle was blown into the air at a primary school in Tasmania on Thursday, December 16.

According to local media, the castle was blown 10 meters into the air during an end-of-term event at Hillcrest Primary School in Devonport.

Police said they had opened an investigation, but that it would take “quite some time.”

Australia’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison described the incident as “deeply distressing” and “shattering.”

“I have been talking to a lot of people in the community today, we are just totally devastated and shocked that this has happened so close to home,” Brady said. Credit: Connor Brady via Storyful
