A mountain of waste has been dumped by the side of a Stoke-on-Trent road. A fridge-freezer was left lying on its side next to bags of rubbish.

Staffordshire Police alerted Stoke-on-Trent City Council to the Shelton fly-tipping this week. It comes as police have made 200 arrests in the Hanley Park and Shelton ward since October and the council has issued 32 fly-tipping fines in the same area.

A police spokesman said: "On foot patrol in the Shelton area, local officers came across this fly-tipping. This has now been reported to the local council for them to deal with."
