Iconic headbangers Foo Fighters will headline next year's Reading and Leeds Festival.

These gods of the guitar – fronted by ex Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl – are amongst a fine line-up of acts confirmed today (November 21) to play at both Richfield Avenue and Bramham Park over the 2019 August bank holiday weekend.

Joining the 'Everlong' stars on headlining duties will be a trio of eclectic musicians: Manchester pop rockers The 1975, Texan superstar Post Malone and 'Heathens' performers Twenty One Pilots.

The upcoming appearance will mark the big return to the festival for the Foo's, who most recently topped the same bill back in 2012.

Other artists taking to the stage over the weekend will be Blossoms, The Amazons, Bastille, YUNGBLUD, Bowling for Soup, Sundara Karma, The Distillers and Hayley Kiyoko.

Foo's frontman Grohl has previously discussed why he can't listen to any music created by his former band Nirvana.

"For years I couldn't even listen to any music, let alone a Nirvana song," he said. "When Kurt [Cobain] died, every time the radio came on, it broke my heart.

"I don't put Nirvana records on, no. Although they are always on somewhere. I get in the car, they're on. I go into a shop, they're on. For me, it's so personal."

Tickets for Reading and Leeds Festival 2019 go on sale this Friday (November 23) at 9am. The event takes place between August 23 and August 25, 2019.
