Foodies Festival 'Gastro Glastonbury' has celeb chefs and chart-topping acts

A popular food festival dubbed "Gastro Glastonbury" is returning to Bath this year with a buffet of celebrity chefs. Foodies Festival will be taking a bite out of Bath from Friday, June 7 to Sunday, June 9 and will feature cooking demonstrations from Great British Bake Off and MasterChef winners.

Just some of the celebrity chefs attending include Great British Bake Off winner Matty Edgell, Great British Menu star Josh Eggleton and MasterChef champion Dhruv Baker. Edgell, who has over 400,000 followers on Instagram, said: "I’m so excited to be joining the Foodies Festival tour this year.

"I’m a proper foodie, so buzzing to be able to attend, let alone bake in the live theatre! I’ll be whipping up delicious sweet treats and sharing some recipes that the audience can try at home."

The festival offers feasts for the ears, too. Classic boy-band Blue, who have three #1 singles and have collaborated with Elton John, will be performing this year.

Band member Duncan James said: “We’re all looking forward to visiting Bath with Foodies Festival. The crowd is always up for a great day and night out!

"A definite highlight is the lovely food from around the world. We’ve enjoyed some amazing dishes on previous visits to the festival and can’t wait to try some more!”

Singer Example will also be serving up a great show. Example is perhaps best known for his double-platinum single Changed the Way You Kissed Me and We'll Be Coming Back, his floor-filling hit with Calvin Harris.

Aspiring cooks can watch demonstrations in the Chefs Theatre, whereas those with a sweet tooth can enjoy the Cakes & Desserts Theatre. In the Drinks Theatre, experts will guide tasting sessions.

Budding young bakers might also enjoy the Kids Cookery School.

Director Sue Hitchen said: “We are thrilled to bring our celebration of amazing food, drink and entertainment to Bath, and we are proud to support local artisan producers and restaurants. We will be working with local residents and the council to establish the event, and very much look forward to welcoming the community.”

Councillor Paul Roper, Bath & North East Somerset Council cabinet member for Economic and Cultural Sustainable Development said: “We are delighted that Foodies Festival has chosen to bring this fantastic event to Bath. Our experienced events team will be working with the organisers and with residents to make sure this headline event is a success for everyone involved.”

Foodies Festival will be held in Royal Victoria Park in Bath from Friday, June 7 to Sunday, June 9. Tickets cost £42 for all three-days, or £21 for day tickets.

Children's day tickets are £4, and children under six go free. Tickets will help raise money for the homelessness charity Crisis.
