Footage of 'bomb disposal' van outside Clydebank tower block as 'suspect item' found

A resident has filmed the bomb disposal squad on scene after a 'suspect item' was discovered at a Dalmuir tower block.

Footage from the scene shows ambulances, a fire engine, police and a van marked 'bomb disposal'. Police called in the bomb squad after a 'suspect item' was discovered during a search of a property at Overtoun Court, Dunswin Avenue, Dalmuir, this afternoon (October 28).

Residents have been evacuated from 'several' surrounding properties and police have set up a cordon to keep members of the public away from the area. Nearby Dalmuir railway station is closed, with no trains running through the station.

Police said the search was part of an ongoing investigation. Police have been searching the area since a man was found dead at Overtoun Court, close to Dalmuir railway station, on October 17. Police are treating the death as 'unexplained' and forensic teams have been seen in the area since the discovery.

It is unknown if this incident is linked to the investigation into the man's death.

In a statement shared to social media, Police Scotland Argyll and West Dunbartonshire said: "Officers searching a property in Overtoun Court in Clydebank, as part of an ongoing investigation, have discovered a suspect item.

"EOD has been informed and several surrounding properties are being evacuated as a precaution. Members of the public are asked to avoid the area."
