Football fans to appear in court after incidents at Shrewsbury v Wrexham game

Two men have been charged and are due to appear in court following a League One football match. It follows incidents after a Shrewsbury FC and Wrexham AFC match on Thursday, January 16, West Mercia Police said.

The force said Will Smith, of Whitehouse Gardens, in Shrewsbury, was charged with entering the field of play designated for a football match. The 25-year-old is due to appear at Telford Magistrates Court on Tuesday, February 18.

Adon Francis, aged 39, of no fixed abode, was charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. He is due to appear at Telford Magistrates Court on Tuesday, February 11.

A third man, aged 29, who was arrested on suspicion of entering the field of play of a designated football match, and possession of Class A drugs was released on bail as enquiries continue.
