The Football League are still seeking urgent talks with Leyton Orient even though players and staff have finally been paid their wages for March.

Some Orient employees have still not received their overdue salaries and the EFL want answers from owner Francesco Becchetti about his plans for the club.

Staff had to wait nearly a month for their wages and yesterday issued a statement calling on the FA and the EFL to help them.

The EFL have said they remain “exceptionally concerned” about the situation at Orient and want to meet senior club officials to get answers.

The EFL have had no contact from the Orient board since a meeting with chief executive Alessandro Angelieri on March 9.

They have written to the club but received no reply. The EFL said: “Silence is not an acceptable response.”

Yesterday, ex-owner Barry Hearn quit as honorary president, asking Becchetti to outline his plans.
