Forbes Kids Look for the Fun in Flooding as Natural Disaster Zone Declared

Forbes in central west New South Wales was declared a natural disaster zone on September 27 after being hit by record floods.

More than 1000 residents have been evacuated and Sydney Morning Herald reported the clean up bill to be tens of millions of dollars.

Property, stock and crops have been destroyed and more rain is expected to fall across central west this week, which could cause the Lachlan River to reach a record peak.

The Drane family found the positive in the poor weather conditions. “We were stuck and school holidays were starting so we had to make some fun of our own,” Matt Drane told Storyful.
