Yahoo News Ford Drops Mach-E Price, One Trim Sees $3000 Price Reduction
Ford has dropped the price of the Mustang Mach-E, its forthcoming electric vehicle, according to a notice sent to dealers.
The Mach-E will start at $43,995, which is $1000 less than the originally announced price, while the Premium trim sees the largest price reduction at $3000.
This segment of electric vehicles has become much more crowded, and as a Ford spokesperson told Car and Driver, the decision was made to keep the Mach-E competitive.
Competition is mounting the electric vehicle space, so to keep its forthcoming EV, the Mustang Mach-E, from getting lost in the crowd, Ford is dropping its price on all trims except the GT. The Premium trim sees a price reduction of $3000 and other prices fall by $1000 or more, according to a notice sent to Ford dealers first reported on the Mach-E Forum and confirmed to C/D by a Ford spokesperson.
The base Select trim's price drops by $1000 to $43,995. The price of the CA Route 1 trim is dropped by $2000 to $50,900, and the Premium trim now starts at $48,100. Both rear- and all-wheel-drive configurations of the Select and Premium models see the respective price drops. The First Edition model's price is reduced by $1000 to $59,400.
A Ford spokesperson told C/D, "We're adjusting Mustang Mach-E pricing to remain fully competitive in a segment that is seeing dynamic price changes."
The Mach-E goes on sale later this year, although not all versions will be available then. When it does, it will face competition from numerous competitors, including the recently debuted 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 which starts at $41,190 with an estimated range of 250 miles and will be available in a cheaper version in the coming years. The Mach-E gets 210 to 300 miles of range, depending on the model. Other competitors will include the Tesla Model Y, which starts at $51,190' the Hyundai Kona Electric, which starts at $38,365' and the Kia Niro EV, which starts at $40,210.
